Unique Hostel Accommodation in Sutherland

The railway carriages are in the centre of Rogart village in Sutherland.  It's a perfect getaway family holiday or accommodation for outdoor enthusiasts. Four trains daily in each direction serve this small crofting community which has a shop, post office and pub with restaurant. Dunrobin Castle and distilleries are easy to reach by train or car. See silver salmon leap at Lairg and seals in Loch Fleet. Or just enjoy the peace of Rogart. The climate is good and the midges less prevalent than in the west of Scotland.

Perfect family accommodation; children love Sleeperzzz!

Families are very welcome and there are free bikes for guests. Children love this unusual accommodation and the freedom of the local area.

A remote and beautiful part of Scotland on good transport links

Rogart is 4 miles from the A9 trunk road, 54 miles north of Inverness and the Wick-Inverness trains stop at the door. Sutherland is a remote and beautiful area. Rogart is one of the few unspoilt crofting villages existing today. It is perfect for walking, cycling, bird-watching or simply watching the world go by! Fishing is available on the River Fleet.

The magnificent Dunrobin Castle is 9 miles/14 km away. Whisky can be tasted at Glenmorangie Distillery near Tain (18 miles/28 km) and Clynelish Distillery, Brora (14 miles/23 km). Brora is also a good place to spot seals. The Highland Wildcat Mountain Bike Trails in Golspie (8 miles/12km) have a great reputation. Head to Shin Falls (16 miles/25 km) to see salmon leap. Both Golspie, a pretty coastal village (8 miles/12km), and Sutherland's ancient county town, Dornoch, (12 miles/19 km) have safe, clean, sandy beaches.

Sleeperzzz is an excellent base to explore the local area, as well as a good stop-off point for end-to-enders (Land's End - John O'Groats).

Excellent Stay

Group of 3 staying in Glenfiddich, there was a great atmosphere with a very friendly welcome from owners. It has an excellent location being literally next door to train station and in idyllic Pittentrail. It is a very unique experience, one which I very hope to repeat and will recommend to friends and family.

Nice place to stay for group

Nice concept, well executed. We stayed group of 7 in Glenmorangie & Clynelish. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. Cosy compartments, nice facilities more importantly value for money. Sure to visit again in future.
