Surrounded by magnificent scenery the Hoy Centre at Hoy in Orkney is ideally situated for a peaceful and relaxing holiday and is an ideal venue for outdoor education trips, weddings, workshops, clubs or family gatherings.
The Hoy Centre is situated in the north east of Hoy. The centre was refurbished in 2005 and now offers high quality four star accommodation. All rooms are en-suite, with a shower, and have twin beds and a bunk bed. Family & exclusive use rooms are available. There is a well equipped kitchen, comfortable lounge area and large dining hall. A drying area is also available.
Hoy has a fascinating variety of hills, dramatic coastal scenery and low-lying fertile land. Spectacular cliffs bound the north and west of the island, while the southeast cost has many bays.
Much of North Hoy is owned by the RSPB, where a large variety of birds live and breed. Off the west coast of the reserve towers The Old Man of Hoy, a 137m sea stack and is, perhaps, Orkney’s most famous landmark and a great place to see puffins.
Moaness Pier is the arrival point for pedestrians by ferry from Stromness and it is a short walk to the Centre. A car ferry also operates from Houton to Lyness, details for both are available through Orkney Ferries (01856 872044). As the nearest shop is around 16km away at Lyness and there is no public transport, however there are minibus, taxi and island tour guides available on the island, customers are advised to ensure they have enough provisions. Groceries can be prebooked in Stromness and delivered via ferry.
