Isle of Skye Hostel Accommodation

The Flora Macdonald Hostel stands in magnificent surroundings at Kilmore in the south end of the Isle of Skye, approximately two and a half miles north of the Armadale Ferry, on the A851. The area is the traditional home of the MacDonald clan of Sleat. Free transport is provided to and from the Armadale ferry.  The Hostel offers budget private rooms for two, three, four, five and six people. For group bookings we can accept twenty guests. The Hostel is a very popular destination with families and backpackers as well as groups who return year on year.  The Hostel is beautifully situated with stunning views - the sunrise over the mountains of Knoydart is spectacular. the whole island of Skye. The Sleat area of Skye is popular with lovers of outdoor activities and also a great base  to explore the rich culture and history of the Isle of Skye.

Owner, Historian and Tour Guide Peter Macdonald is always happy to recommend places to visit and give to give guests the benefit of his extensive knowledge of Skye history. Peter is from Sleat and his family have lived in Kilmore for several generations.  Peter also breeds the Eriskay ponies which you can see on site.

Excellent Hostel Accommodation on Sleat

The Hostel Accommodation comprises of two buildings . The original Hostel is a spacious converted stone farm building with a modern fully equipped kitchen. The common area has a wood burning stove and plenty of seating and tables. There are two large private rooms furnished with wooden bunk beds suitable for groups of five and six respectively. Each room has private en-suite shower and toilet facilities.

The adjacent modern Hostel building has three private rooms for two, three and four guests respectively with bunk beds. All the facilities in this building are shared with a fully equipped kitchen  shower and toilet.

Location Information

Situated 2.5 miles from the Armadale ferry The Flora Macdonald Hostel is the perfect place to start or end your visit to Skye and the outer Islands.  As we are three miles from the nearest shop guests might like to bring their own supplies if they wish to self cater using the excellent kitchen facilities provided. Alternatively there are several Hotels within fifteen minutes drive where visitors may choose to eat out.
