Am Bothan Bunkhouse
Conveniently placed for the Leverburgh/Berneray ferry terminal this nautically-inspired facility overlooks the magical Sound of Harris and enjoys distant views of the islands on the far-western horizon as well as panoramic outlooks to the mountains of South Harris.
The building boasts a unique and colourful decor with unexpected artefacts in every corner. In addition to an open peat fire all rooms are centrally heated and all bedding is provided (including duvets).
There is a well-stocked shop in the village and a cafe and a pub/ restaurant nearby. A frequent bus service up through the islands (to Tarbert and Stornoway) passes the door. There is ample parking space.
Wildlife and otter watching trips are available locally (puffins arrive in May and seals breed in October) and trips to the smaller islands in the Sound of Harris can also be arranged. Leverburgh is also the sea-faring gateway to the fabled islands of St Kilda.
