Our Members' establishments are inspected annually by VisitScotland's Quality Assurance Department. However, despite hostel owners’ best efforts, very occasionally things can go wrong.
If you have already complained to the hostel owner/manager, but would still like to take the complaint further, please contact the SIH team, who will assure you that all complaints are taken seriously and investigated thoroughly in liaison with VisitScotland's QA Department.

Our hardworking and very vibrant SIH Board of Directors are: Paul Allen
Andrew Donaldson - SIH Vice Chairman.
Andrew is one of the employee owners at Comrie Croft Hostel. He's very happily married to Malize (sorry ladies!) and they have two wee boys. When he's not reading or writing emails for SIH he likes nothing better than doing anything involving mountains
Rosemary Samios - Secretary
Rosemary lives at Sydney, she's married to Jim, a lawyer. She takes the minutes by BT Conferencing. Rosemary was a physiotherapist in her previous incarnation. She owns Portree Independent Hostel and is a proud grandmother.
"Patricia is one half of Abernethy Bunkhouses now ending its 27th year. She trained at the Royal Ballet School yet now describes herself as a computer avatar because she seldom leaves the office! She does so only to put on one of a diverse series of tourism hats and go for adventures with her grandson. Her husband Richard keeps the customers amused during their visits and her 2 daughters have flown the nest."
Murdo Morrison  - Membership Secretary
Murdo owns and runs Bayfield Backpackers in Portree.
